We know, fall usually means pumpkin spice, sweaters and pretending it’s cold outside while Florida is still happily sitting in the 80s. But, that is exactly why we love it here. While everyone else is getting ready for crisp mornings and changing leaves, New Smyrna Beach is still serving up sunny beach days, warm ocean water and that unmistakable salty air we never get tired of.
The Beach Is Still Calling
If your idea of fall involves trading flip flops for boots, we have a better suggestion, keep the flip flops. Fall in New Smyrna Beach means beautiful beach days without quite as much of the summer hustle. The pace slows down, the crowds thin out and there is a little more room to stretch out your beach towel and actually enjoy it. You can start your morning with a walk along the water, spend the afternoon floating in the waves and finish the day watching the sky turn approximately 47 shades of pink and orange. No jacket required.
The Weather Is Pretty Hard to Beat
There is something magical about being able to say you are having a fall getaway while wearing shorts. The temperatures start to feel a little more comfortable, especially in the mornings and evenings, while the days still have plenty of sunshine. It is the kind of weather that makes you want to spend all day outside. Take a bike ride. Grab lunch outside. Wander around town. Head back to the beach for sunset. Repeat as necessary. Summer in Florida is fun but Fall in Florida is a little more relaxed. With fewer people visiting, it is easier to settle into that slow vacation rhythm. You can take your time over breakfast, find a favorite spot in the sand, and walk into a restaurant without feeling like you need a reservation. It feels a little more like the New Smyrna Beach locals know and love and that is a pretty good way to vacation, like a local.
The Sunsets Are Showing Off
We are not saying fall sunsets are better… We are simply saying that you should probably stick around and find out for yourself. As the days begin to shift, sunset becomes one of those little moments you actually plan your day around. Grab a drink, head toward the water and find a spot to watch the sky do its thing. No itinerary necessary.
It Is the Perfect Time to Explore
Summer beach days can make it very easy to spend an entire vacation without ever leaving your rental and we support that! But, fall makes it especially tempting to explore a little more.
Spend the morning at the beach, then head to Canal Street for a little shopping and local flavor. Wander through galleries, grab coffee, find a new favorite restaurant, take a scenic drive, and explore the quieter corners of town. New Smyrna Beach has a personality all its own, and fall is a pretty wonderful time to get to know it.
And Then There Is the Best Part
After a day of exploring, there is nothing better than coming back to a place that feels like your own. Kick off your shoes, put your feet up, open the balcony door and listen to the ocean. Maybe head back downstairs for one more walk along the beach because it’s a fact that nobody has ever regretted going to the beach one more time. This is where a vacation rental really shines. You get the space to spread out, the comforts of home and, when you choose the right place, the beach practically outside your door.
So, Is Fall Really the Best Time to Visit?
We might be a little biased, but we think the answer is yes! Fall in New Smyrna Beach is warm mornings, uncrowded beaches, salty breezes, local events, long walks, good food and sunsets that make you stop whatever you are doing just to look. It is summer without quite as much hustle, Florida without the rush. It’s the kind of vacation where your biggest decision of the day might be whether you want to go to the beach before breakfast or after and honestly, those are exactly the kind of decisions we think vacations are made for.
So go ahead and put the pumpkin spice on hold for a few days. The ocean is still warm, flip flops are still appropriate, and New Smyrna Beach is waiting. See you at the beach this fall!
